My dog's tail is limp and painful after playing. Should I see a vet?

Bo was rough housing with our other dog like always and was fine and all of a sudden they came inside and he was acting different. His tail appeared to be limp...and I touched his tail and he yelped and did not like me touching it. He is very restless like he is in pain. He can't get comfortable and is not playing anymore. He is guarding his limp tail from everyone and our other dog. He is eating, drinking, and walking fine. No other issues other than his limp tail and painful to the touch. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 4 months old | 61 lbs

Poor Bo is in pain. He may have injured it outside. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.
