My dog has a skin infection. Can I give her human amoxicillin?

I have a 15 lb. mixed breed older dog that has a skin infection. I also have 875mg amoxicillin. Can I give her theses?

Unfortunately I cannot recommend doing this. It's illegal without seeing Reba in person. I never recommend trying to treat medical conditions on your own, you could accidentally hurt her. Have her seen by a vet to get treated properly.

I would not advise giving your pet human doses of amoxicillin. Mainly because this kind of pulse therapy can actually create resistant bacteria on your pets skin and create an even bigger problem. Also you aren't treating the fungal infection at all, so the itchiness and irritation will still be there. There are also stronger antibiotics for skin out there that can help reduce the chance of creating resistant bugs and also are more effective. Can I give my dog amoxicillin for his pyoderma?
Yes, but I prefer cephalexin or cefpodoxime for skin infection. The amoxicillin dose for a dog 40lbs would be about 200mg every 12 hours. I would recommend seeing a vet though for appropriate antibiotic therapy recommendations. Topical therapy should also be considered. I typically recommend using a shampoo such as Douxo PS chlorhexidine combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until the infection is resolved. I also recommend using welactin omega 3 fish oil and essential 6 spot on by dermoscent. Malacetic conditioning spray is also a good option to spray isolated areas on the body where infection is present. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. My dog has an ear infection, can I give her Amoxicillin?
Ear infections are usually treated with an antibiotic ointment that is placed directly in the ear and left in the ear to work in between cleanings. A typical schedule of cleanings include cleaning out the affected ear every twelve hours, placing the ointment in the ear, massaging and letting it set. This continues for a period of 7-10 days to completely clear the infection. There are some OTC ear infection ointments available but it is likely you will need to visit your vet for a prescription version. Amoxicillin is a general antibiotic and is more common in other infections such as skin or minor internal infections. It is best to check with your vet to see if it is appropriate for your dog's type of ear infection rather than just giving it. Giving the wrong medication or wrong dosage for the problem can actually make it worse, or even make your dog very ill.

No Amoxicillin only treats bacterial infections. If you suspect that Bruno has a yeast infection, then I would encourage you to discuss this with your vet to see if an anti-fungal medication is also needed and can be prescribed.

Amoxicillin can be used, however you should have Roscoe examined by your veterinarian first. An appropriate dose or a more effective antibiotic can be recommended or dispensed. Inappropriate antibiotic use can lead to resistant bacteria and may complicate any underlying condition, possibly delaying diagnosis. Never medicate your pet without the advice of your veterinarian.

Hello, sorry to hear about Bailey. It would only potentially help if her ear infection was due to bacteria. However. infections can also be caused by yeast and may not be susceptible to antibiotics. Additionally, this medication should also not be used if its expired and should only be used as recommended by your veterinarian. Additionally, ear infection are also treated with topical medications over oral medications to avoid the systemic side effects some antibiotics may have (nausea, decreased appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea). You should have Bailey evaluated by your veterinarian today to determine what type if ear infection she has and ensure there is nothing within the ear canal itself that could be causing this infection (foreign material such as grass, plants or parasites such as ear mites). Cephalexin is widely available in India under the brand name Keflex, Acfex and many more. Your local pharmacy shop should carry it or be able to order it. You should ask your pet doctor to call the pharmacist to organise it for you. My dog has a lot of ear problems infection and allergies. I bought 250 amoxicillin today in Mexico because its what my vet in Alabama gives her but i can't remember how much to give her. I'm also giving her zymox otic ear drops.
Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Boop by Petco to give the dose information for any drug without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your dog. You need to ask her vet for the correct dose.

Hello. Unfortunately, amoxicillin is not going to help in this situation. You really are going to be much more ahead in solving this problem with Duney by seeing your vet. You need to see if she has picked up a skin infection ( which can be bacterial or yeast ), mange mites, or a significant allergy to something.
