My puppy fell, has an eye bump, and is shivering. Is she okay now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 12 days old | 5 lbs

I dropped my chihuahua puppy (4 months) while picking her up from around four feet. She cried a bit after the fall but stopped after I concoled and pet her for a little. I touched all her limbs and she did not react and does not limp when walking. The only thing that seemed off was a small bump right near her lower inner left eye. The eyeball itself seems fine. It’s during sleep time and she seems to be shivering in her sleep even Though she is warm.

She’s adorable! Shivering can be a sign of discomfort. She will probably be sore and bruised from the fall so I’m not overly concerned about that. You may want to wake her to make sure she’s acting normal, and I would give her something to eat to make sure she’s able to eat normally. Luckily puppies are very resilient and usually heal quickly from minor injuries. Please take her in right away for treatment if she’s unable to eat, the bump enlarges, or she doesn’t act normally.
