Is my dog's joint pain and constipation related to medication?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Savannah Cat | Male | neutered | 2 years and 5 months old | 18 lbs

Other doctor commented nothing seemed wrong. But if those tiny pieces are bone splinter, he would have to do surgery, right...? How much does if usually range? He is eating/drinking good, walking/jumping/running -though I asked him not to. But after taking meds given by doctor, he seems having constipation. Unsure but foul odor is coming out from his bottom hole.

I'm not really seeing bone splinters on the knee/circled area. If you mean the free moving bone, that is the knee-cap and is a normal finding. There could be a tiny bit of debris in the joint capsule surrounding, but it is hard to tell. It would be best to have Neah evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon to determine if surgery is needed. They can also provide you with cost estimates depending on what care is needed as prices will vary by individual clinic. Some medications can cause changes to bowel habits. If Naeh seems in a lot of distress or very uncomfortable, I would let your vet know in case they need to add in a laxative or change medications to help.
