My new puppy just came home, whining and not pooping. Is this normal?

I just brought my new basset hound puppy home and he is whining a lot unless I'm petting him how should I handle this and it's been almost 24 hours and he has not pooped. Pet's info: Dog | Basset Hound | Male | unneutered | 2 months old

It is not unusual for them to not poop for a couple days after going to a new home. I would not be overly worried about that just yet. Just make sure he is eating and drinking. Also, get him on a schedule of eating and going outside to use the bathroom so that is it very routine for him. I know it's hard but if you give in to his whining by giving him what he wants you will never get him trained so it is just best to ignore him when he whines. Try to re-direct his behavior with toys or something else that will distract him.
