Concerned about my rescued ferret's tail. Is it an injury or tumor?

I rescued him yesterday from a shelter who did a “health check” and had said he was “recovering from a tail injury” but it’s very concerning to me that they didn’t even look at it...

This looks like a tumor of the tail to me. I could be an injury but if it is, it is not healing well. I think you need to get him to a vet for an exam. It is best to use a vet that is used to treating ferrets.
