My dog has an open wound on her back. Is it a tick or infected?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | spayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 30 lbs

I found a bump on my dogs back and when I went to examine it she jumped and the hair ripped off. I tried to examine the hair and there appeared to be some sort of scab but it was very difficult to tell. There is an open wound in that area and I’m just concerned it could be a tick or infected

It just appears to be a wound or a hot spot. I don't think it looks tick related. I suggest you use this wound spray on it until it is healed. If it looks worse at any time have your vet check it out. ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetericyn-plus-wound-and-skin-care-for-dogs )
