Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 9 years and 9 months old | 9 lbs

Last week, our beautiful little girl Snowden was killed by another dog while walking with my husband. My husband and I are heartbroken. Our cat Bitsy and Snowden we're great friends for 8 years. Every day Since Snowdens death, Bitsy our cat has stayed on our bed and won't come out. Is it possible that Bitsy is grieving Snowden death too? Is there anything we can do to help her?

That is awful, I'm so very sorry for your loss! Yes, cats can grieve the loss of a companion, and that may be what is happening with Bitsy. Give her lots of love and extra attention to help her through this time.
