My puppy has UTI symptoms. What can I do before the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | unspayed | 35 lbs

My puppy (17 weeks) has possible UTI. I have an appointment with the vet tomorrow, are there any safe home remedies we can try in the meantime to make it easier for her?

Poor Dolly. One important thing to do is take her out frequently. This gives her more opportunity to empty her bladder. Feed her canned food and add water to it to flush her bladder. I hope this helps!

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about this puppy. Unfortunately, there really isn't much they can do at home except provide fresh water to keep the urinary tract flushed and the puppy hydrated. I would advise reaching out to the local shelters, rescue groups, humane societies and see if anyone is willing to help them out with this puppy. Untreated this could turn into a kidney infection and a very very sick puppy. I wish you good luck.
