My 6-year-old dog had multiple seizures. What causes dog seizures?

My rat terrier had a seizure a year ago out of blue,then last night 3 seizures back to back longest was 3 minutes. Hes 6 yr.s old his last litter of pups his partner had one puppy is having seizures regularly.this is only 2nd time for my dog,what could be causing it. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 6 years and 5 months old | 15 lbs

That sounds scary! Tripp needs to be examined by his veterinarian today if possible. Pets can have seizures for many reasons including liver disease, idiopathic, electrolyte imbalance, infections, inner ear problems, cancer or epilepsy. He will need a physical exam and bloodwork to begin to narrow down and appropriately address the cause. Seizures are serious and are best addressed early. You need to stop breeding Tripp as well. With the puppy having seizures and now him having seizures, you should not pass on his genetics. Have him neutered to make sure this doesn't happen.
