My cat has a small, painless lump on their neck. What should I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 7 months old | 25 lbs

My cat has a small lump below his neck it doesn’t seem to hurt him and his attitude or appetite has not changed should I be worried ?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Dexter. This lump may be an enlarged lymph node if it's right below his neck. That can indicate an infection or a dental problem. Other possibilities include a cyst, an abscess, a lipoma, or a benign growth. Given it's local, I do think it's important to have it checked out by a vet, and I would have him seen by one in the next few days. I hope this helps!

    They are probably lymph nodes. You can feel them even when normal but they can get bigger with an infection. As long as he’s healthy they are nothing to be overly concerned about. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Russell.
