My dog is whining and anxious. Is it pain if his routine is normal?

Hi my dog Buddy a yorkie poo is showing sighns of excessive whining & anxiety he has a routine pretty much consistent, every day

This behavior could be a sign that Buddy is sick or in pain. Given that he has a consistent routine that hasn't changed, I would be thinking that may be the case. I'd take him into a vet today for a health check.

Whining is an attention seeking behavior and can be a sign of anxiety, pain or potentially boredom. The shaking can also be a sign of pain or anxiety. If you think he might be in pain you should see a veterinarian to see if they can localize the pain to a specific area. If you think he may be anxious it could help to try to identify what might be triggering the anxiety - some dogs have storm or noise phobias, or he might be anxious about a change in routine or environment.

Buddy was laying down and whining and yelling and wouldn’t get up. He is okay and snuggling me now but why did he do that? Is he okay?
I am sorry Buddy was not feeling well/being vocal. Unfortunately based on the information you provided it is hard to give great information. Dogs can whine due to anxiety, nervous, pain, trauma, and even behavior. If Buddy is acting normal now I would continue to just keep a close eye on him and if he repeats this behavior consider taking him to a vet for a good exam. hope that helps

Poor Bodie. Sometimes when they are showing these odd signs, they are in pain. It could be his neck or back hurting. Since this is so unusual for him, I would have your vet do a thorough exam on him to help figure out what is causing this weird behavior before it gets any worse. Nausea is possible by I would excpect excessive licking of the lips or drooling excessively and not willin to eat much. If you think it could be anxiety, you could try acalming collar like adaptil. If only Milo could talk! This type of behavior could be related to something like anxiety or to pain/discomfort. I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian who will check for evidence of pain on the physical exam. Many times this type of sudden pain is related to intervertebral disc disease, discospondylitis, upper abdominal pain or a pinched nerve. They may also check a urine sample or the anal glands as well. Since he can't talk, it's best to play it safe. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Herbie is not acting normal he is cuddly more and he is whining more and he is getting old and we can't see the vet until Dec 17th. And its making me scared and he has been doing this since Nov.23rd aka turkey day and its only getting worse is there
The behavior changes you describe could be a sign of pain somewhere or a number of other problems - sometimes it’s difficult to say what might be wrong when signs are relatively vague. Abnormal behavior and whining does not necessarily sound like an urgent problem to me unless he is showing other signs of illness as well. If you are very concerned or if Herbie has had other symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, coughing or a change in urination you could see if you can move up your appointment with your vet.

I'm sorry your doggie isn't doing well! Crying a lot can be a sign of pain, and pain can cause a change in behavior. I would take her into a vet today to get checked out. The vet can diagnose what is causing her crying, and can treat her for it. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Ruling out an underlying health issue such as pain or illness is always a good first step when your pet experiences a sudden behavior change. As seven is the start of the senior years, it is possible there is some pain from laying in the bed, or arthritis causing problems. if Milou checks out health, trying to find if there is a pattern to the "attacks" may be helpful- does it happen the same time every night? Same spot? Same triggers? Is the neighbor arriving home in a noisy car at that time, etc? This may help you figure out what is triggering it so you can make some adjustments- IE moving the bed somewhere quieter, making sure your dog is fast asleep prior to that time, getting out excess energy before bed, feeding a treat to keep the stomach from becoming too empty and causing growling/discomfort, etc. If you can't seem to find any pattern at all, taking a video of the even to bring to your vet or a local trainer may be helpful in better identifying what is going on, and finding

I recommend to have Banjo examined by the veterinarian. This behavior sounds like something is hurting him though high anxiety could also look like this. The problem is that Banjo cannot talk and tell you what he is feeling so you need to have him examined to make sure it's not pain. Pain could be anywhere in his body but common conditions include a disc problem in the neck/spine, a pinched nerve or pancreatitis. After the physical exam, the doctor will have a better idea of what to do next. I hope this helps.

It's possible something may have startled your puppy, however if he is whimpering or appearing very agitated it could indicate an issue such as pain or illness causing him to feel unwell. If the problem persists or you see other signs of illness, it is best to seek veterinary care ASAP as very young puppies can become very ill quickly.

My dog Buddy is very lean, whining and whimpering instead of barking, and has been vomiting. I am very concerned because he came from a very poor family and was not given proper nutrition and was living in a cage. Should I be concerned?
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. If Buddy seems off and is whimpering and vomiting, he may have something going on causing him discomfort. Because of his age, I would be suspicious of a viral infection, something he ate that he is having an indiscretion to or a foreign object he ate that is lodged somewhere in his intestines causing problems. Because there are multiple causes and it is difficult to determine what it is for sure, I would have a veterinarian examine Buddy so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would consider having his blood tested and abdominal x-rays taken. I hope this helps and that Buddy gets better soon!
