Is my senior dog dying of old age? She's weak, throwing up, shaking.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | spayed | 9 years and 4 months old | 30 lbs

My dog is 9 years old. For the last few days now she has eaten very little and when she did she threw it up. She drinks a little water. Shes very week and restless and shakes real bad. Is this a sign of her dying of old age?

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The symptoms you described for Snoopy sound like she has a medical condition causing her to become ill. My advice is to have Snoopy evaluated with her veterinarian very soon so she can be examined and tested for organ issues, gastrointestinal obstruction, and/or infection that could be underlying. She may need blood work and x-rays or other diagnostic tests to help understand what is causing her symptoms.
