My weaned puppies are underweight. How can I help them gain weight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

What's a solution on how to get pups weight up if the mothers milk was contaminated? They are weaned but I didn't give mother any albon while nursing. Did a dewormer, so could it be cociliosis?

I'm not sure I understand you fully here, but I think you are asking what to give puppies to get their weight up if they have already been weaned from the mom. You really just have to continue giving them puppy food which is high in calories and then treat them for any worms that are present. If there are worms in the puppies system, then their presence is the likely cause for the low weight, so the focus should be on treating the worms. Your vet can test the puppies stool to be sure. Any worm can cause weight loss, including coccidia. I hope this helps and if I did not interpret your question correctly, please feel free to repost to our forum and we will be more than happy to assist you further. Otherwise, best of luck with these puppies moving forward. Take care!
