How to care for an inactive newborn puppy? What should I feed it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | 5 days old | 80 lbs

I found abandoned new born Labrador puppy 3 days ago. It might be of 2 days at that time. I am feeding him with diluted buffalo milk. It was quite active one day ago today he is not much active. I have made all preparations for keeping him warm. Please guide how to take care of him and what should I need to feed him.

Poor pup. He needs puppy milk replacement because the buffalo milk likely isn't enough nutrition for him. You can buy puppy milk replacement formula online or at your local feed store in most cases. You can even check with your local vet clinics to see if they carry it. If he isn't active, he may be ill, which would warrant a vet visit as well if the new formula does not improve his activity level. Here is more guided information on how to care for orphaned puppies, which should help greatly. ---> https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951456 You also want to make sure you are stimulating this puppy to pee and poop, since it can't do it itself. You have to feed puppies this young once every 2-3 hours, so if you are only doing it 2 times a day, it is severely malnourished just from that alone. Increase its feedings to give it the best chance of survivial. I do hope that this puppy will be able to thrive and do well moving forward. Best of luck and take care.
