Why is my healthy dog losing hair in patches without itching?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 10 months and 14 days old | 59 lbs

Spock is a healthy dog, has all up to date injections, pils and parasite medications for preventive measures. His hair and skin seems healthy. But i do see some small patches with slightly no hair. No itchiness (no scratching) that I am aware of.

Hair loss in a younger dogs is most commonly due to skin mites or ringworm (which humans can get). I recommend to have Spock examined and tested for these conditions (both of which are easy to test for). I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
