Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | unneutered

Hello there I hope you’re doing well , my cat lost a patch of hair during the night , yesterday he was just fine but morning I found this patch missing , the thing is a vet on the plateforme told me that he injured himself since it doesn’t bother him and he’s actually playful and eating and all . What worries me however is the texture of skin in that area . Please if u can provide me with tips to make his fur grow back ASAP that would be amazing and thank you so much in advance.

I suggested an injury because this happened overnight. If was a skin infection, I would expect the hair loss to not occur so quickly. Now I see black spots in the picture, and that can be a sign of flea dirt. Maybe Leo was really itchy from fleas, and scratched this patch raw. If he's not up to date on his flea treatments, I can give you one for him. First, I would give him Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. As for making his fur grow back, you cannot make it grow faster, the best thing to do is find the cause of the hair loss and treat it. Sometimes it can take months for fur to grow back in fully.
