My dog ate a lot of donuts and is bloated. What should I do now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 60 lbs

My 5.5yr old Male Staffy (27kg) ate 11 cream donuts. (Left on top of kitchen counter and he got to it when i moved my car into the garage). He looks distressingly bloated and is licking his lips. No pooping, no vomitting yet.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. It sounds as though Scooby has a bit of food bloat. I would fast him for 24 hours and let him digest the donuts he ate. He may develop dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, etc. If he begins to vomit and become lethargic, then I would take him in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatments recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
