Hi. Unless the pain medication was prescribed for her, do not give her anything, the human medications or over the counter medications aren't always safe and don't have same doses for dogs then people. If her pain level is that bad, I'd go to ER to get pain meds

Limping means Koshy is in pain. Please do not give her any human pain medications. Many are toxic to dogs, and can be fatal if given. Plus they aren't safe for nursing puppies. I'd take her and her puppies into the vet for this problem.

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. I'm sorry to hear that Eva injured her leg! Unfortunately, there are no safe human pain medications that can be given to dogs. Medications such as Advil, Aspirin or Tylenol can be fatally toxic to dogs, and should not be given. They can also interfere with medications that your veterinarian will want to prescribe when he/she sees Eva on Monday. The best thing you can do to help Eva in the meantime is restrict her activity. If she has a crate, I recommend keeping her in this during the day and night, except for taking her out on a leash to urinate/defecate outside 3-4 times per day. If you don't have a crate, keeping her restricted to one room in the house where she cannot run or jump on/off things will be the most helpful. If you feel that Eva is in too much pain - i.e. she is whining or crying constantly - she should be seen by an emergency veterinarian and you should not wait until Monday. I hope this is helpful!

In order to give the right medication you have to have a correct diagnosis. If your dog ruptured a cruciate ligament, medication will not cure this, but she will need surgery. If Roxy has arthritis then a special NSAID for dogs (never give NSAIDs for humans as they can cause irreversible liver and kidney damage to your dog) can be prescribed by your veterinarian. If she has an injury or infection , that would be addressed with antibiotics and pain medicine. Please take Roxy to your veterinarian for an exam. The vet may want to take x-rays tu rulle out fractures, bone cancer and other conditions visible on x-rays.

There isn't anything over the counter that is safe for her. There could be many causes of limping without apparent pain or discomfort, such as a partial tear in the ACL. Gentle massage and keeping her from running and jumping will help her heal.

You should have her seen by your veterinarian and hopefully he can give her medication against the pain. Pain is stress and can cause her to have her kittens early. The best thing is to rest her in a confined area, such as her crate if she has one, or a small room, like a bathroom, and only take her outside for potty breaks on a leash, to further limit her activity. There aren't any over the counter human medications that are safe for dogs for minor pain relief, as a matter of fact, ibuprofen and Tylenol can cause a lot of harm. She may have a greenstick fracture or have a strain, sprain or torn a tendon or ligament. If she does not improve significantly in a couple of days or gets worse, she needs to be seen by your vet for an exam and probably xrays.

Poor Missy! Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I would recommend resting her for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a lead only, and bring her right back in when she's done. If she still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. She may also benefit from some pain medications, and the vet can prescribe some for her.
