Why does my dog chew furniture and carpet when home alone?

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 6 years and 9 months old | 75 lbs

My 6 year old lab has started chewing the couch cushions and the carpet while I'm at work..Any tips for correcting? Thank you...

Chewing up things can be due to several reasons including boredom, lack of exercise or anxiety. I recommend crate training until this is under control.
