I am very sorry to hear about Simba. Some possible causes for these symptoms could include a wound to the foot such as stepping on a sharp object/thorn/splinter/etc that has punctured the skin or cut the skin; and injury to a toenail where a nail has been split or torn; or a musculoskeletal injury such as a ligmament sprain or a broken bone. I would recommend bringing Simba in for a vet to examine his foot to determine what is causing his symptoms which will help guide his treatment.

Hello, thank you for your question about Jake. Based on the symptoms that you are describing it is possible that Jake may have a skin infection or have stepped on something leading to discomfort and inflammation within the paw. I would recommend having him seen by your veterinarian so that they can evaluate the paw and look for the source of discomfort. In the meantime I would recommend preventing Jake from licking or rubbing at the paw and keeping him relatively exercise restricted. Hope this helps, good luck!
