My puppy has hair loss, a big belly, and is skinny. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | 3 lbs

I saw this puppy at a pet shop and I entered to ask about this specific puppy. Although they assured me that she was not sick I still have my doubts as she has an immense amount of hair loss. Although she did seem very lively and very eager to play with other puppies she also has an inflated belly even though the rest of her body appears to be quite skinny. I was wondering if there are any diseases that might show hair loss to a two or three-month-old puppy? Would she require surgery?

I am sorry to hear about your concerns for this puppy. We would be concerned about things like mites (microsocpic so invisible to the naked eye), fleas, allergies, and more https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/alopecia/ . A pot-bellied appearance with the rest of the body being thin can often be seen with a heavy parasite load (such as worms). It sounds like this puppy is not in good condition, and while he may be healthy once treated, you should be aware that it could require some money on your part to get him diagnosed and treated.
