Dog UTI: Will one antibiotic pill affect vet tests? Can dogs take AZO?

my dog has been crying when urinating, and not going alot. cant even touch her privates, she crys out. yesterday i had 1 amoxicillin clavate i gave to help til we see the vet today. will that 1 pill alter the results at all. i dont want it to show negative for infection if indeed she has a UTI SHE IS AN 11 YR OLD NORWEIGAN ELKHOUND. ALSO, can dogs take AZO to prevent infections? if not, what supplements good

One pill shouldn't alter the results, so that will be fine. AZP should not be given to dogs, it's not a medication that can be safely used in this species. The best way to prevent infections is to make sure Amelia drinks lots of water, and you take her out to urinate frequently. The longer she holds her bladder, the more chance bacteria has to build up in the bladder leading to infections.

An immediate check up at your local veterinarian is required as this drug could cause toxic side effects. The signs you are describing are compatible with urinary tract infection/inflammation and Piper should be investigated and treated for it, starting from urine analysis and possibly an ultrasound of the bladder. Can j give my dog 59lb azo cranberry tablets. Not the standard but the cranberry for urinary tract health
Azo tablets have been show to potentially cause methemoglobulinemia in dogs and cats and should not be given. It also can cause a dry eye condition in dogs. I would recommend not giving this to Eve. There are pet formulated cranberry tablets that you can purchase from your veterinarian (if available) or through your local pet store.

I'm about 99.9% sure my dog has a UTI, has all the symptoms. I don't have a vet for her currently, and have leftover amoxicillin pills 500mg, would it hurt to give her one, or half of one...
I am sorry to hear your pup Zarina may have a urinary tract infection (commonly known as UTIs). Before I explain why, it is not a good idea to start antibiotics. UTIs are frequently caused by bacteria in the urinary bladder or the urethra. Female dogs are more prone to developing UTIs but any dog can be pre-disposed to UTIs if they have any urinary stone formation. Given that we are unsure if Zarina has a UTI, I would recommend a veterinary visit to confirm that she does in fact have one. They typically take a urine sample and look for bacteria and cells. If they see crystals or evidence of possible stone formation, they may recommend a radiograph of her bladder as well. If she does have UTI, it is important to choose the right antibiotic with the right dose and frequency. Typically, dogs are treated for UTIs with a 10-14 day course of antibiotics. Since UTI's can be painful and irritating, I recommend finding a veterinarian sooner rather than later to confirm and get the proper t

AZO tablets are not recommended for dogs and cats, although a single standard dose would probably not be toxic. It’s possible that Zephyr is vomiting secondary to what is now a kidney infection, or that his straining is caused by prostate disease or bladder stones. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian. They can check Zephyr’s prostate and check a urine sample.

Can I give my dog human antibiotic Clindamycin HCL 300mg to help her for UTI
Hello. It is unfortunately impossible for us to recommend using human medication without knowing there is a real problem with your pet. At best, you may be giving an unnecessary medication & at worse, you may be treating inappropriately & causing a simple infection to become much worse. My dog ate one UTI pill. He’s about 15 pounds. Should I take him to the vet?
He should be fine if he ate just one. Just monitor him closely for the next couple days for any abnormal symptoms. If any are noticed then he should see a vet ASAP. This NSAID ingredient is a derivative of aspirin but not as problematic. He should be fine but not all animals react the same to medications.

Giving her an antibiotic without knowing if it if the right kind for the condition she has is what creates resistant bacteria, and, if her problem is urinary crystals or stones, it will be ineffective. It will also masl symptoms from your vet if it worsens and she needs to be seen urgently. I suggest making an appointment with your vet for an exam and urinalysis as soon as possible.

This is not good. Make sure she drinks a lot and if she still pees blood or bloody urine, take her back to the vet for a recheck. She may need some pain medicine and glucosaminoglycanes to help the lining of the bladder heal.

I would continue to give the antibiotic and definitely follow up with your vet as soon as possible. I ask recommend an x-ray to look for stones in her bladder that could be causing the symptoms. Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Antibiotics will not make the vaccine not effective. The reason to not vaccinate when they are sick is that the immune system is already ramped up when you are sick, so as to not make it worse. This is more of a concern when there is systemic inflammation (whole body response) to the infection vs. an isolated infection in the bladder. A thickened wall of the bladder could very well be from chronic urinary tract infections, however the question would be WHY is she having chronic urinary tract infections. Also, before switching antibiotics (which is OK to try) it is a good idea to get a culture done of the urine to determine which antibiotic is best to use. If this course of antibiotics doesn't work, or if Gracie gets another urinary tract infection within the next year or so, then I would suggest making sure you get a culture of the urine before starting antibiotics (ideal but often not done due to cost of this test), and also I would be looking
