Why is my dog's penis discharging creamy white fluid? Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 9 years and 8 months old | 14 lbs

Oreo has creamy fluid coming out of the pouch that holds his penis (prepuce?). It's a very small amount. It doesn't smell and he's not bothered by it. But, when I tried to clean it with hydrogen peroxide, it bubbled. Should I worry? He's shown this a few times and our vet didn't do much about it except flushing the pouch. Should I continue to clean the area and keep an eye on it for a few days? It went away on its own many times before. Please advise.

A little bit of discharge is normal. White coloration is a good sign. I don't recommend to put hydrogen peroxide on it anymore. If you notice a change in the amount or the character of the discharge, you may speak with your vet about learning how to do the flush at home. I hope this helps and please feel free t post any additional questions.
