What causes my dog's recurring hives on his back if he's not itchy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 3 years and 5 months old | 52 lbs

My dog has hives down the entire right half of his back (the side he sleeps on) he is an all white bully breed mix. He is not itching or seeming to be bothered, he is on frontline. This happened once about 3 months ago however it was his entire back (nothing had changed in the house). We used aloe on it last time gave him a bath and it cleared up completely within 3 days of doing this but we have no idea what could possibly be causing it.

This sounds as though he is having an allergic reaction of some sort, as long as he is not having any trouble breathing, you can give Benadryl to help calm down the reaction. Please read the following article below on Benadryl information. ( https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/benadryl/ )
