My dog has a painful neck lump, head tilt, and can't eat. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 3 years and 5 months old | 10 lbs

My dog recently started shaking her head a lot, so I checked her ears and felt around her neck. She had a bump in her neck and would Yelp whenever I pressed lightly on her neck(the sides of it). I am very worried because this has never happened before. She also keeps her head tilted on one side and can’t bend down to eat or drink water. Should I take her to a vet or wait it out?

I recommend to have her examined today. A painful lump is very concerning for an infection or even something like a fracture. Teddy is also likely in pain and that's why she is acting this way. Best to get her examined and more comfortable quickly. I hope she feels better soon and please feel free to post any additional questions.
