My senior dog has a non-painful anal bump. Is it cancer or an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 12 years and 7 months old | 100 lbs

My 14-year-old has a hard bump near her anus. I can move it a bit and it does not hurt her. I am waiting for the vet to get back to me. Should I take her to the emergency? It might be cancer I suspect

There is no need to take her to the emergency, even if it is cancer it's not likely to be urgent to the point of not waiting for your vet to see you tomorrow. without seeing it i can't tell you what it is of course, but there are two glands on each side of the anus called "anal gland", in some cases these glands could get infected, impacted or become cancerous (not common).
