My Staffy is underweight. Is Wagg food the issue? What should I feed?

I have a 4yr old staff and is under weight no known illness just can't seem to put his weight on for some reason I feed him two meals a day dry biscuits was wanting to know if the food isn't any good for him of so what to feed him thank you he is on wagg food

Thank you for providing the name of Bobby's food. Wagg isn't a brand I recommend. You can try a higher quality food like Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. I feed my dog Iams, and she loves it.

Hello, any of these diets could be recommended by your veterinarian. If you feed the recommended doses as detailed on the bags then this should be sufficient for a puppy, however, in an older dog this may be too rich for her. If your veterinarian is recommending that she continues to eat a puppy food, then my choice would be a Royal Canin diet. Otherwise, you can feed a supplemented or bigger portion adult diet. What is best dog food for 3yr old female staff .I'm on low income
Hello. If Tia has no reasons to be on any type of special diet, then you can not go wrong with any of the Purina dog foods. If you want to step it up the notch, Hill's Science Diet or Royal Canin are excellent foods. There is absolutely no reason to pay $90 for a bag of dog food just because it has a pretty label. First off, I would check with your vet to make sure that he actually does need to gain weight. I often see dogs that are a very healthy weight but the owners think that their dog needs to gain weight because they are used to seeing overweight dogs. A good rule of thumb is that in short-haired dogs you should be able to actually see the last rib in the rib cage, not just be able to feel ribs. If your vet does indeed think Blue is too thin, he/she may be able to recommend a good high quality prescription diet like Royal Canin High Energy that is designed to provide increased calories without causing digestive problems.

I suggest you feed Bailey a complete senior dog food for medium sized dogs. It is very possible that Chappie is not enough nutrition for Bailey. Look into brands such as Hill's , Royal Canin, Eukanuba, Iams or Purina ProPlan. It also may be a good idea to take him to a veterinarian for a wellness exam just to make sure that the weight loss is not caused by illness,

I will try to help! I recommend giving Jax Drontal, it's an excellent deworming treatment you can get from a vet's office. As for food, brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I feed my dogs Iams, and they love it. If you want a supermarket brand of food, Purina One is excellent. I hope this helps!

I suggest you buy a complete puppy food for medium sized dogs from a better dogfood company. I like to feed Hill's, Iams, Royal Canin or Purina as these are scientifically tested. You may want to worm her anyway, as by the time there are worms in her poop, she would be severely infected with worms. Normally you would not see worms in poop, even if the dog has worms. If your puppy still does not gain weight when eating the above food, then you should have Tassie examined by your veterinarian, as there may be a metabolic or intestinal condition that prevents your puppy from gaining weight or thriving.

hello my dog is one yr old chi/jack russel mix and was recently put on mendroxle she is done her meds ten days n while one meds she was put on a low fat diet prescription hills. she has lost alot of weight. now she needs too be weaned to another dog
Iams is a great brand of food, and it's not as expensive as Hill's. I also like Purina ProPlan, and Purina One. All of these are healthy, and cheaper than Hill's. I recommend trying Layla on one of those foods. You will have to transition her slowly to prevent GI upset. Mix together the new and old food, and over the course of two weeks, gradually increase the amount of new food and decrease the amount of old food until she is eating the new food only. Purina ProPlan Performance diet is formulated for athletic dogs. This or something similar should help him gain and maintain weight. I hope this information helps!

If you can’t increase the volume of food the pups will eat, try to increase the calorie content. Also making sure you feed a high quality food will ensure that the pups absorb the nutrients appropriately. I like Royal Canin and Purina Pro Plan. My dog is very skinny, is there anything we need to give him to help him gain weight or do we just continue to feed him on a regular bases?
Weigh loss causes are multiple: insufficient food intake, increased exercise, anorexia, diseases affecting the intestine/pancreas/liver, infections, tumors....To exclude all the health related causes of weight loss a vet check up would be needed. If everything health wise is in order I would recommend to check if the amount of food he is getting is enough for his weight; consider to adjust the dose if needed and/or change the diet completely. Good quality commercial diets (Hill's, Royal Canin) are definitively the best choice to make sure you provide all the nutrients Pancake needs.
