My new 5-month-old cockatiel won't eat or drink. What should I do?

Hi I brought a new cockatiel home yesterday and he hasn't eaten or drank anything since, i tired hand feeding, but he just keeps on jumping all over the cage and runs away from my hand. His about 5-6 months old. What can i do

Thanks for reaching out again .If not used to hand feeding, they will rarely take it at this age. If different from the food offered at the pet store, contact the store for the same food. Provide heat support in the 80-85 f range can give some comfort. Good luck.

    Thanks for reaching out about Loopi. A veterinary visit is definately recommended but if not available, providing heat support in the 80-85 F range might give some support. Hand or syringe feed as needed, as mal nutrition can lead to weakness. Seed is not a complete diet, vegetables and a protein source are needed. If this bird was originally hand feed, return to that. Don't forget to offer water. Good luck.
