PennHip vs OFA for hip testing: Which is better and more accurate?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | spayed | 7 months and 25 days old | 56.2 lbs

Mazikeen is to be a future service dog and on the right track in her training however I now I have to start deciding if I should get PennHip testing or OA. Which is better? I hear PennHip gives more accurate testing, is this true?

The PennHip is generally considered to be more accurate: https://www.aaha.org/publications/newstat/articles/2010-11/study-compares-pennhip-ofa/ I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
