My lizard's tail is dark at the end. Is it tail rot? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Bearded Dragon | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 1 day old | 0.4 lbs

I’ve been looking into tail rot and the end of my lizzards tail is a lot darker than the rest of her tail what do you think?

Thanks for reaching out about Smaug and including photos. The end of the tail appears to be necrotic. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. The environment needs to be kept clean so substrate should be removed and replaced with paper towels or fabric to lessen the chance of contamination. Review diet and correct as proper nutrition is important to recovery and long life. Good luck.
