My cat is drooling, gagging, won't eat, and hiding. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

My cat keeps drooling and occasionally gagging like there is something stuck in his throat. Wont eat/drink and hasn't move from under the bed since last night.

Oh my. These are very concerning symptoms I'm afraid. I would highly recommend taking Leo to your local vet right away. I am worried that Leo may have a toxin ingestion, foreign body obstruction, or even kidney disease is a possible cause here. Until you can get him seen you can try offering some canned tuna and white rice to see if you can entice him to eat a bit of food. I hope that your furry friend Leo feels better soon! Best of luck and take care.
