My young kitten is very sleepy and won't eat. What should I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 8 lbs

I recently found a cat, maybe around 4 to 7 weeks old. Ive had her for one night and she seems to be sleeping a lot and she wakes up for like 15 seconds and goes back to sleep, so I don’t know how to get her to eat. Is this normal and should I wake her up to eat?

Kittens can sleep a lot, but if she is very listless I would be worried that she is ill and should be seen by a veterinarian right away. Starvation and dehydration can very quickly cause a kitten to go downhill which could be why she is so lethargic and requires medical care. She may also be younger than you suspect and still need additional care. Your vet can also help determine her age, and you can use this guide if she is young for rearing orphaned kittens: https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-to-raise-orphan-kittens/
