My dog's face is swollen and eyes sunken. Is it a bee sting? Vet?

My dogs cheek are swollen and her eyes look sunken. She looked fine this morning though. There’s been no changes to her diet and environment so I’m thinking she got stung by a bee but I just want to be sure. Should I take her to a vet?

Because Marquessa was fine this morning, and now has swollen cheeks, yes I would take her into a vet. The facial swelling could continue until it causes her problems breathing, and that can lead to respiratory distress which is fatal without treatment. Bee stings can swell a lot, and some dogs can have allergic reactions to them. It's best to be safe and have her seen by a vet now. I hope this helps.

    Poor pup! It could be she was stung by an insect, sustained a bite to the face, or could be suffering an allergic reaction. Because her face is swollen, that could affect her breathing so she needs to see a vet now to prevent that from occurring. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

Does a bee sting affect both eyes when only one of her eye got stung, also when will the swelling go away?? I gave her two benadrys, she is eating good and seems playful. Just very sleepy now due to the benadryl I'm guessing.

I believe my dog was stung by a bee. Her eyes are very swollen and the side of her mouth is extremely swollen. I gave her Benadryl. What should I do now? Vet? At home things I can do? How long will the swelling last?
Benadryl is definitely appropriate at home. Heading in to the vet is definitely the safest option in case the swelling continues - they will likely give her an injection of steroids and benadryl and monitor her for a few minutes. If you don't go to the vet, watch her over the next couple hours for worsening of the swelling, and go to a vet if it's getting worse at any point. With facial swelling we worry about her throat swelling as well and her not being able to breath.

That snout does look swollen. It is best to take her to your vet ASAP as you are doing as swelling of the face, neck, or head can quickly get serious. Your vet can give her a shot to help reduce the swelling quickly while they help find the cause of it. Bee stings and other insect bites can definitely cause swelling that quickly, especially if Candy ate a bee or wasp!

Dogs can be allergic to bees and stings will swell. It could be possible that she was stung by a bee, but my answer is still the same, she needs emergency veterinary care now. Swelling from bee stings in the mouth can and do cause the airways to be blocked off, leading to respiratory distress and death. She sounds very ill, and if there was anything you could do at home for her, I would tell you. There honestly isn't, she needs to see a vet right away.

I woke up this morning to my dogs face swollen really bad what do I do
A sudden swollen face is usuaally caused by some allergy, either an insect bite or an environmental allergy, or could also be a rattle snake bite. Check for oozing little wounds, there would be a little blood oozing but not coagulating. If you find those on the head, your dog likely was bitten by a snake and needs to be seen by a vet right away. If your dog has breathing problems, vomits or is lethargic, he should also be seen by a veterinarian right away. If he is happy, eats and drinks, you can observe the swelling and it should go down within 24 hours. Of course you can also take him to the vet if he is not in distress. The vet will give him an exam and likely an antihistamine and/or steroid injection.

Swelling of the face and mouth/facial swelling are often initial symptoms of an anaphylactic/allergic reaction. These reactions can occur in dogs after vaccines, after exposure to a food or substance they are allergic to, or after a bite from an insect. As it is impossible to predict whether an anaphylactic reaction will remain localized or progress to trouble breathing, which can be life threatening, it is safest to contact a 24 hour vet for Bella at this time to have her seen. The ER may recommend a treatment plan including anti-histamines, corticosteroids +/- epinephrine and montitoring until the selling has gone down. They will also likely recommend an at home dose for Benadryl after establishing a valid patient/client relationship if this should occur again as it is uncertain at this point what Bella is allergic to. Wishing Bella a quick recovery!

It could certainly be a sting, as the area does appear reddened. I would also consider a tooth abscess very likely as well, as they often appear somewhat suddenly and cause swelling just under the eye. If Amiga has dental disease - and you should be able to tell if she will let you look in her mouth on that side, in the back - there's a high possibility. Watch her closely for signs of a serious reaction in case this is an insect sting, as some dogs (like people) can have intense inflammatory responses. Signs would be difficulty breathing, sometimes accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea, and collapse/weakness. The thing that is concerning is that from the pictures she looks to be in pain, based on the way she is squinting her eye. I would call the vet again to see if they can get her in earlier, or try a different vet - if it's a tooth root abscess it could be quite painful. The other possibility would be a mass/tumor of some type, but that seems less likely since you've just noticed thi

My dog has swollen face. One side only. What can I do?
I am sorry to hear about Pepper! A swollen face can be caused by a variety of issues, including an allergic reaction, a bite from an insect, or an abscessed tooth to name a few. These are all treated with different medications, so it is recommended to bring Pepper in to the vet to examine her to determine what is causing the swelling and how best to treat her. If the swelling is increasing in size or she is struggling to breath it is a medical emergency and she should be seen immediately.

my dog got under my deck and could have gotten bitten by a snake on his eye or stung by a bee I don't know honestly. his eye is swollen. he won't do anything normally like go to the restroom or eat sometimes. Im extremely worried.
Depending on the severity of the reaction to the bite or sting, your dog may require some measure of veterinary care. This could include something like a steroid shot to reduce inflammation, IV fluids to help provide supportive care, or an antivenom to combat the bite of a potentially harmful snake. A vet will also be able to assess any sort of bodily harm and/or organ damage that may have been inflicted by another animal / insect. I would recommend bringing Jojo in to a vet as soon as possible. In the event this is a snake bite, these matters can sometimes be time-sensitive.

Hello. Most likely Yuki was bitten or stung by something. She may have snapped at a bee or wasp flying by & it is not uncommon to get stung inside the mouth. If she is not having any breathing difficulties, then she will be fine in 24-48 hours. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
