A clicking ornchirping sound can be normal in a happy or excited gerbil. But, if you only hear the clicking sound when he is eating I would be worried about the teeth. A gerbil’s teeth continuously grow and if not worn down appropriately they can become overgrown and cause problems with eating. I hope this helps.
