Why is my 10-year-old cat vomiting and meowing in pain?

My cat vomited what she ate in the morning. After that she started meowing continuously. She stopped only after i picked her up and put her on my lap. even the she was clenching her paws for some time. she's asleep now but i'm worried something is wrong with her. She is a 10 year old cat. Please advise. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 lbs
