Is my French Bulldog puppy's morning cough and nasal mucus normal?

I have a new 11 week old French Bulldog puppy. A week ago she was found with a small heart murmur that the vet was confident she would outgrow. Since then, the only issue we've had is that whenever she wakes up in the morning, she has a wet gagging/cough for about 3-5 minutes and she has mucus dripping out of her nose. I've been told this is normal for bulldogs but it just started happening. Is this normal? Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 24 days old | 9 lbs

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Winona. I am concerned that she may have an upper respiratory tract infection based on the coughing and nasal discharge. If her symptoms persist, she will need to see her veterinarian. I do not think these are more signs even in her breed. As far as the heart murmur, if it does not resolve by 4-6 months of age, then she will need an echocardiogram. You want to be sure there is not a structural problem. I hope this information helps!
