My Dalmatian puppy has a red eye. When should I see a vet?

Unfortunately with the pictures you provided, I can't see any red in Tobby's eye. Even if the pictures did show it, I cannot diagnose anything without seeing him in person. I recommend giving your vet a call now to make an appointment for him to be seen. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be examined by a vet promptly. This is because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can diagnose what is causing the red in his eye, and how best to treat it. Best of luck.

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! Red eye can be caused by conjunctivitis, which is an infection of the tissues on the interior of the eyelids. It can also be due to a foreign body, a corneal ulcer, or be an allergic reaction. My dog he has red in he's eyes
Ouch! The diagnosis will depend on where in the eye that he is red. The eyelids and conjunctiva can get red with allergies, foreign object or corneal ulcer. The white part (sclera) can get red secondary to trauma or diseases such as glaucoma. The inside of the eye can get red with high blood pressure or coagulopathy ( bleeding problem). The best thing for him would be an exam by a veterinarian. They can do some diagnostics to Check eye pressures, tear levels and check for ulcers. Poor Olaf! This could be a minor eye irritation or it could be more serious like an ulcer on the eye(s) or conjunctivitis (infection). Since they are becoming more red, I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to stain the eye to rule out corneal ulcers and be able to tell if there is any other causes for the redness. They will also be able to start him on the proper meds to help him feel better if needed. I hope this helps!

My dog looks like he poked his eye. Will this heal on its own or should he get eye drops

There is a red spot in his eye, indicating blood, and you need to be sure there is no damage to the cornea itself. The vet can do this at an appointment. Please take him into one in the morning. Broken Blood vessel on top of eyes both sides. Should she be seen?
Hello there! While probably not an emergency (unless Dodi appears to have discharge or discomfort), I do recommend that she is seen by a vet. Broken blood vessels in the sclera (white part) of the eye are not entirely uncommon in pop-eyed dogs like the Havanese (usually from stress or irritation), however it usually happens in one eye at a time. Dodi is a young dog, and I would not expect any serious conditions, however it is always best to contact a vet when it comes to strange eye issues as if there is a problem, they can get worse quickly. The vet will want to check for conjunctivitis and foreign objects, though I would expect that Dodi would be acting uncomfortable if either of these were the case. In the meantime, keep a close eye (no pun intended) on Dodi, and give your vet a call in the morning. I hope Dodi's eyes clear up soon! Best regards,

It could be that your puppy ran into something outside causing the blood to pool in the white area of her eye, but she could also have an eye infection or allergies. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take her into a vet now to have her eye examined and diagnosed so it can be treated as needed.

My Dog Won't Keep His Left Eye Open, Should I Worry?
Poor pup! If he's keeping the eye closed or if the [eye is red](https://www.petcoach.co/article/why-are-my-dogs-eyes-red) and there's discharge coming from it, it's likely that he either has an [eye infection](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/conjunctivitis/) or an injury of some kind to the eye, such as a corneal scratch or ulcer. I would recommend having him examined by a vet or [veterinary ophthalmologist](https://www.acvo.org/) as soon as you can, since he will may prescription eye drops to treat the problem. Eyes are delicate, so the sooner he gets an exam and proper medication, the better - some problems can cause permanent damage or vision loss if they aren't treated promptly.

My dog has a red spot on his eye. I’m assuming he got it injured while playing outside. he doesn’t seem to be in pain (not reluctant to open eye) and is acting normal. I’m not sure if his eye will heal on its own or if I should bring him to the vet.
Hello, yes you definitely need to take him to your vet to get it checked, it's most likely a corneal ulcer, this can happen due to an injury or eye infection, often it can get worse and even cause blindness in that eye, it needs to be treated with special eye drops

My dog eye seem not fine
The tearing and discharge may indicate an infection or injury. You would need to have Tobby physically examined by your veterinarian or a veterinary ophthalmologist to diagnose the underlying cause. The appropriate treatment can then be administered. In the meantime, place an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent pawing or rubbing until he sees the doctor. A warm, moist washcloth can be used to gently clean around the eye itself. Schedule an appointment sooner rather than later to prevent unnecessary pain or potential permanent damage to the eye.

My dog who is 14 years old seems to be having a somewhat teary eye and the white of the eye is blood red.
Redness and excessive tearing are signs of an eye infection or some type of injury, such as a corneal scratch or ulcer. You can try rinsing the eye with plain saline eye wash if you have some available, in case there is a hair or something else that might be causing irritation. If this doesn't help, Pete will need to be seen by a vet - he/she can use a special stain to check for any injury to the cornea, and will likely prescribe antibiotic eye drops to treat the problem.
