Why is my dog limping on his back leg on and off? Should I go to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pekingese | Male | neutered | 6 years and 4 months old | 15 lbs

We figured out that it was his back leg. He limping on it. But I didn’t even hurt him or he didn’t ether hurt himself. He does this thing when he acts like he is in pain then in the next day he acts fine. So I don’t know if he trying to find attention or is in pain? Should I bring him to the vet just Incase or wait until a couple days?

Dogs limp because it is painful to bear weight on the leg. Pekingese tend to have problems with their knee caps which can cause lameness off and on. I dont think he is doing it for attention, I think he hurts some days and not others. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
