I just gave my dog his insulin shot and it didn't go into his skin as I thought! His fur was wet, and could smell insulin strong...What shall I do?!

Unfortunately this is something that can easily happen. Since there is a possibility that TobyToo got a little bot of insulin, I would be afraid to give another shot. So just treat this as if he had his insulin shot and give him the next injection when it is due. By the way, if you pull up a fold of skin and inject into that it may be easier to feel when you are in.

Unfortunately, these types of accidents can occur from time to time. Since it is possible that TobyToo may have received some of his insulin dose, it would be best to NOT give more insulin tonight. The risks of giving too much insulin are far more severe (weakness, seizures, etc. from low blood glucose) than the risks of underdosing insulin once. Be sure to mention this questionable dose to TobyToo's vet if problems arise, or if he is due for monitoring blood testing or a glucose curve in the next 2-3 weeks. I hope this helps and that all goes well for TobyToo!
