Is raw food or wet kibble better for my German Shepherd puppy?

Great question! Wet food mixed with a kibble diet is better for Fenrir. I never recommend raw diets. There is too much risk of him getting sick from bacteria that is present in raw food, and there is a risk of you getting sick from making the meals and him passing it along to you (i.e. eating the food and then licking your face). There have been numerous cases of dogs getting sick on the raw food diet. In addition, there's no proof that raw diets are beneficial to dogs. I would keep him on his current diet.     I never recommend the raw diet. It's a fad, it's actually not healthy for dogs as it's hard to balance correctly nutritionally, and it poses a risk of getting sick from E.coli and Salmonella to both the dog and owner. A kibble diet is best. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps!

Do not give Bailey a raw diet. There is no proof these are beneficial for dogs and are often imbalanced nutritionally. In addition, there is a risk she could get sick from E. coli and Salmonella, and so can you. You'd be hard pressed to find any vet who would recommend a raw diet. I'd give her canned food. I recommend a large breed puppy food for your GSD puppy, and a medium breed puppy food for the 10 month old puppy. I can understand it may be a pain to have two separate foods, but large breed puppies have different nutritional needs due to their size. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I feed my own dogs Iams, and they love it. Good on you for taking them off the raw food diet! Best of luck.

Why everyone is giving their Great Danes raw food diet? Is it Healthy.. I am giving my puppy only dry foods. Is it gonna be a problem?
I actually prefer commercial dog food as it includes the proper balance of nutrition that they need. A lot of raw food diets don’t have the proper studies to back it up and they don’t have the proper nutrients in them. Also, dogs who eat raw food diet are st higher risk for bacterial infections like salmonella. I think as long a syou are giving a high quality large breed or giant breed puppy food like science diet, Iams, or royal canin then he should grown normally. I hope this helps!

at what age can a puppy start eating kibble. and when should i introduce raw meat in the diet?
A dog can start eating kibble around 5-6 weeks. You may need to mix it will some warm water and slowly transition him to eating it dry, but most GSD are more than willing to eat it as they have plenty of teeth. I would be careful ever introducing a raw diet. These can be very dangerous and I have seen many dogs get really ill from contaminated meat. Just be careful, but you could start once he is willingly eating kibble. You want the kibble to be the staple of his diet as it has all his necessary nutrients that raw meat doesn’t. What type of food ingredients would be good for a German Shepherd? Grain free?
Great question! I personally never recommend a grain free diet for dogs unless they have a proven (i.e. diagnosed by a vet) grain allergy. Grain allergies are actually very rare in dogs. Only about 5% of dogs with allergies have a food allergies, and of that 5%, the majority of the allergies are protein. Grains are beneficial to dogs, they provide a sustained source of energy and help them keep fuller longer. When feeding a puppy like Zeus, I recommend a puppy formulated food. Puppies need higher amounts of protein, calories, and calcium than adult dogs, and a puppy formulated food will provide that. Once he's 12 months old, he can have an adult formulated food. He needs protein, fat, and carbs as well as many vitamins and minerals to have a balanced diet, which is why feeding a dog food is easier. I was curious if changing my dogs food to a raw diet is more beneficial then feeding her dry kibble. I have read some things online about the raw diet and was wondering if it’s recommended.
For the vast majority of dogs, a raw diet is not recommended. Remember that you find all kinds of false information on line. Raw diets require careful formulation to be sure that they are balanced. Raw diets also pose a potential health threat to humans. That being said, there are a few dogs with specific disease conditions who may benefit from a raw diet but these are rare. Dry food recommendations please
Choose a good quality food with a named protein source. Avoid meat meals and by products. Stay away from store or discount brands. These typically contain low quality ingredients an dmore fillers. I feed Nova Royal Cannin puppy food currently, she seems to be doing well with it. I have come across lot of people advocating for raw food. What's your opinion on it?
Hello again! Royal Canin is a high quality food, so if Nova is doing well with it, I'd recommend continuing to feed it. There are conflicting opinions about feeding a raw diet, but most veterinarians recommend against it as there is an increased potential for gastrointestinal illness in both your dog and you (the preparer) from handling raw meats, and the benefits don't tend to outweigh the risks. Yes , It looks like a good quality puppy food so should be good. Bear in mind it is important that your dog switch dog food gradually from his current dog food to avoid digestive upset or tummy trouble. To transition, mix your dog's current food with his new food. Over 5-7 days, gradually decrease the amount of the current dog food while increasing the amount of new dog food.

Butta is so cute! I personally do not recommend raw diets. There hasn't been any scientific evidence that they are beneficial to dogs, and there is a real risk of your dog and you getting sick from the diet due to the bacteria. You would get sick from handling the diet. In addition, it's very hard to get a raw diet balanced at home unless you pay for a commercial. I always personally recommend feeding either canned food or dry food, as those have been proven scientifically to be both healthy and nutritionally balanced for your puppy. I hope this helps!
