Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered
Our neighbor's cat has been to the vet already for a wound on his lip, infected with LOTS of necrotic tissue. Our vet cut out most of the necrotic tissue, telling us it might be a spider bite. His lip never healed, and he smells awful. He's very emaciated, probably because it hurts for him to eat. We don't have any money to take him to the vet again for another two weeks. Is the only thing left for him euthanasia? Or is there something else that can be done?

This wound does look very uncomfortable and ideally a feeding tube and repeat surgery to remove further dead tissue would provide room for healing. Alternatively, oral antibiotics, medical grade honey on the wound and feeding a blended, high calorie soft food such as royal canin recovery may provide enough relief for him to heal it over time but will not work if he is unable to swallow either from pain or swelling in which case euthanasia is recommended
