I have a cwd that laid 1 egg couple of days ago. She has been eating and has had a bowel movement. Soaking in her water dish, acting like nothing is wrong. Noticed tonight a lup on her side and seems to be another egg. Should i be concerned and call the vet ? The egg she laid was soft shell and an oblong shape. What should i be watching for if she is egg bound ?

A female CWD will lay between 2 and 4 eggs. If housed with a male CWD, she will lay about 8 weeks after breeding. Provide extra calcium supplementation during this time. Supply a lay box or area with moist substrate for her. When she is ready, she will dig a hole and deposit her eggs. Monitor for excessive digging, straining, lethargy or a swollen abdomen. These are symptoms that may indicate she is egg bound. In this case, an exam with your veterinarian or an experienced herp vet is strongly recommended as she may die without treatment.
