My dog ate foxtails and vomited. What should I do? Is he okay?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 65 lbs

My dog got loose today and on return he vomited what appears to be fox tales. I'm panicking,is he going to be ok?

If he will allow, check in and around his mouth for more foxtail. Remove them if you can. Check in his ears and between his toes as well. A fine toothed comb and/or tweezers can be used to remove them. Monitor for more vomiting, lethargy, decreased or loss of appetite and abdominal pain. These are all symptoms that warrant an exam with your veterinarian.

    Fox tails are tricky. They would probably pass without cause, but there is a small possibility that they could migrate from the GI tract. Due to their small nature, a vet would not be able to remove them at this point. If you dog continues to act normally, I wouldn't worry much, but if he loses his appetite or starts vomiting again, he should be examined by a vet.
