Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 8 years and 1 month old | 11.7 lbs
My dog is an 8 year old shih tzu. Prior to this he was healthy. 2 years ago he was diagnosed with luxating patella. It comes and goes so we know how to manage it. However, this time it is not his leg. My dog has been lethargic and in pain for 4 days. I already sent him to the vet. The vet diagnosed him with bloat but i dont think he has bloat. My dog yelps when I touch his neck or when i carry him. His head shivers and he has no appetite. He also releases gas sometimes. He also sleeps all day.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Oreo! I agree! Neck or back pain aren't symptoms of bloat. You have to trust your instincts and be an advocate for Oreo. I would take him back to the Vet Monday for a recheck and share your concerns. I treat back and neck pain with anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants, pain medications and strict rest for several weeks. I wish Oreo the very best!
