My kitten has yellow eye discharge, can't afford vet. Home remedies?

My friend doesn’t have money to take her cat to the vet right now. Her kitten’s eyes has yellowish discharge. We have already cleaned them with water but it doesn’t solve the problem. What product can we get to help her eyes?

From the picture, it looks like Mow has a severe eye infection, and there are no OTC products that will cure this. This has to be treated with medications available only be prescription from the vet, and leaving this untreated can lead to vision loss. See if your friend can borrow money from family and friends to afford the vet, and I can give some resources that may help. She can see if her vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in her area, or she can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and she can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Unfortunately no, this does have to be treated by a vet. The medication needed is prescription only, and leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Hello, so there's this stray kitten I found, that appears to have a very bad eye infection. I can't afford to take it to the vet, and really want to help, what should I do?
I am so sorry to hear that Lady is experiencing these problems with her eyes. Thank you for providing an excellent pictures, it seems painful (eyes closed) and has discharge. Start by placing an e-collar or cone on Lady to prevent scratching or rubbing. If the eye is infected it is likely painful, this will prompt Lady to scratch or rub her eye. However, this could inflict further damage, infection or even an ulceration. Because eye concerns with cats, such as infections, corneal ulcerations, cataracts and glaucoma, can progress rapidly to blindness I would have her examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the issue. Poor Mona! She really does need to see a vet for this mucus around her eyes and nose. She could be suffering from an eye infection and/or a respiratory infection, both of which require treatment from a vet. If you can't afford a vet, you can take her into the SPCA. They can get her the veterinary care she needs and find her a home. Keep in mind that some of these infections could be contagious if that is the case with him so it would be best to proceed as soon as possible with visit to a veterinarian and to try to keep him separate from the rest of the kittens until then. I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Without seeing the eyes myself it is hard to say what the problem could be. She is 15 years old so there are many diseases of the eyes that could be happening. You can try this ophthalmic gel in the eyes once to twice a day to see if it helps but really, she should see a vet. Most respiratory infections in cats are viral induced. he likely has a secondary bacterial infection due to the yellow discharge. You can try and add anti virals to his diet such as Lysine which can be purchased at any pet store. Keep his eye and nose clean and wipe them daily. You can apply a warm compress to help with his eyes I would try to find a shelter or rescue that can help with cost to get him treated at a vet since you likely need eye antibiotics and medicine by mouth

I'm sorry that you are having this issue. I know the vets are far away but she really needs to see one. That left eye looks very bad and I'm not sure home treatment will help. The eye looks swollen and you can't even actually see the globe (eyeball) - it may be abnormal/injured. That eye looks painful and the kitten looks very unhappy. Please try to get her to a vet. In the meantime, the only thing I can recommend you do is keep the eye rinsed out with saline solution. Put one cup of water and ½ teaspoon of salt into a pot. Put the lid on. 2. Boil for 15 minutes with the lid on (set a timer). 3. Set the pan aside until cooled to a room temperature. From your description, I would be concerned about an infected tooth root. I would start saving up for a vet visit and possible surgery to remove the tooth if this is the case. Antibiotics will help temporarily, but it will happen again until the tooth is removed (if the vet determines it is a tooth issue).
