Why is my kitten not growing or gaining weight unlike siblings?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I got 3 street cats (motherless) 1 week back .among them he was hardly seems to be 10 days old then, seeming younger than other 2. after a week the other 2 have grown a inch but he didn't. he is quite less energetic comparatively, unable to jump or ride on wall/tree unlike the other 2. his far is light also. his appetite is as same as other. why he is not growing up or gaining weight? (India)

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Lack of growth and failure to gain weight in a kitten can be due to a number of medical causes- viral or bacterial infections and parasitic infections could be potential causes among others. I would recommend having the kitten seen by a veterinarian for an exam and assessment. You may wish to bring a fresh fecal sample to the vet appointment in case your vet wants to test the kitten's stool. I hope this helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
