Is it uncommon for dogs to get hair stuck u. Their gums vertically? Like on his canines I'll find his hair under his gums vertically and I'll wiggle the hair out because it looks like his gums is irritated. Why does it his happen? Is it okay? Is it actually called something? What should I do other than remove it when he lets me? He's still young so I do t know if that matters about his gums

Yes, it is common that dogs will get hairs stuck in their gums. This is quite common in dogs with a shorter coat. Certainly if Otis is chewing at his fur excessively, then your veterinarian should examine him. Otherwise, there isn't really anything to do for it other than remove the hair. I do recommend removing the hairs if possible because they can contribute to bacteria getting under the gum line and causing dental disease. I think that is a great opportunity to start brushing his teeth to keep his gums healthy and remove the hairs as you find them. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and answered your questions.
