My 4-week-old kitten has a bloated tummy and isn't pooping.

We have a 4 week old kitten we found under our house almost two weeks ago. I started her on liquid kitten milk and she was doing fine and then moved her to powdered kmr. She was doing ok but hasn't pooped in a couple days now. I've tried stimulation multiple times just like we were doing before. Her little tummy is soft and bloated. She still wants to eat but I'm scared to give her too much food since her tummy is so bloated

How lovely of you to take Roo in and look after her! It could be that you are making the KMR too concentrated and that is causing her to not poop. Try adding a bit more milk to the KMR and see if that helps. If it doesn't, you will need to take her into a vet as soon as possible for further treatment. Given that she is four weeks old, you can also start weaning her onto kitten food. To help her wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality kitten formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with the KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry kitten food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until she is eating the dry kitten food only. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Boba. As long as she is eating, gaining weight and seems comfortable, she should defecate soon. Make sure you are stimulating her after each meal. Apply a warm cotton ball to her genital area. This replicates the mother licking her and will help her to urinate and defecate. If she stops eating or her belly appears distended, then she needs to see a veterinarian. In this case, an enema may be warranted. I hope this information helps!

My 2 week old kitten is bloated and constipated I have tried massaging his belly, the triangle method and just simulating but he won’t poo. I am worried about feeding him more but if I don’t he will be hungry ! He is currently 224 g please help!
I would keep his feeding schedule the same so he doesn’t get dehydrated and weak from a low blood sugar. If you have a recital thermometer sometimes gently inserting this can help remove poop and stimulate them to go more. Your vet can also pass a fecal loop or prescribe a stimulant or softener to help the kitten go

If she is straining and attempting produce stool but is unable, or if she is vomiting I think you should see a veterinarian. Constipation is rare in a kitten that age but is possible. Your vet can check for parasites and potentially give an enema to help her pass stool. If she is not straining or vomiting I think you could also monitor her for another couple of days but if she hasn’t pooped in three days you should see your vet.

Offer a bit more water, KMR or diluted PediaLyte. This will maintain or improve hydration. A dab of olive oil around his back end may help to ease the passage of stool. Position him on his belly when feeding and burp him as you would a baby afterwards. Stimulate him until he urinates and defecates after each feeding. Keep him warm also. A chill may slow everything down and make it difficult for him to defecate.

At four weeks of age, they should start pooping on their own and being weaned onto kitten food. To help them wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality kitten formulated dry food in warm water until soft. I haves 3 week old kitten who has not pooped in 2 days. She's drinking milk fine and is very active can she be constipated?
MIracle is REALLY cute! You could check to see if she is dehydrated by pinching up the skin between her shoulder blades. If it is slow to go back to normal then she is dehydrated which could be contributing to the lack of feces. I would have your vet take a look at her if she is dehydrated so they can give her a little fluids if needed. If she is well hydrated then I would continue to feed her every 3 hours and be sure to use a warm wet cloth at every meal to rub around her anus. This will help to stimulate her bowel movements. If she still hasn't pooped within the next 24-36 hours then I would have your vet look at her. With her being so small, I don't want to give her a bunch of stuff over the counter as they can be quite sensitive. I hope this helps!

Poor fluid intake, low fiber diet, food sensitivities and intestinal parasites can all contribute to constipation in kittens. I recommend adding a probiotic/fibre supplement such as fortiflora and ensure she is kept up to date with deworming medications. Monitor for feces production, she may require another enema if not resolving

As a kitten, worms are a common cause of a bloated abdomen. You can get a dewormers at a vet or over the counter at a pet store. The lack of bowel mocmenenta may be from the food. If he is eating well and acting normally you can add canned food as thisbhas more water content to help. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Kachie! Constipation is serious in pediatric puppies and kittens. Since it has been a week I urge you to take Katchie to the Vet and see if an enema is needed. Kitten milk replacer/formula commonly causes GI problems, either diarrhea or constipation. After every bottle feeding the kitten needs to be stimulated with a warm wet soft washcloth over the anus and genitals. I always recommend bottle fed kittens be weaned sooner, around 3 weeks. So I would start offering canned kitten food mixed with formula and decrease bottle feeding. By 5 weeks she should be off formula and eating kitten food 100%. I wish Kachie the best!

At that age they should not need to be stimulated to go to the bathroom. Have you tried placing her in a litter box to see what she does by herself? If there is nothing then I would have her checked, sometimes passing a fecal loop or a thermometer can remove some and help stimulate them more. if the stool is dry then thenvrt may want to add a stool softener. I would get her seen sooner since she is not eating well and not playing.
