Why is my golden retriever itching, bleeding, and licking pink paw?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 3 months old

My dog simba is a 2 y/o golden retriever. Lately he has been itching a lot. He itches so badly(mostly on his head around his mouth) that he starts bleeding. And also something unusual has been happening lately to his paw. It’s turning pink and he keeps licking it all the time. Can you please tell what’s wrong

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Based on your description, it sounds like Simba is dealing with allergies. There are different products over in India than there are here so I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Simba to give you the most appropriate recommendations. I hope this helps! Simba most likely needs to be put on an anti-allergy medications. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
